Position Description/Responsibilities (CCC/Vendor)

The Lab QA Automation Lead drives increased efficiency and effectiveness in testing using existing and emerging cutting-edge automation approaches and technology.

The Test Lab is a highly complex set of test environments designed to replicate multiple production environments, including virtualization, heavy integration, 3rd party packages, custom code, cloud and peripherals (tablets, POS, mobile, etc).


Leads the lab team to deliver reduced time to market for software by developing and implementing a world-class Testing Automation vision and strategy for the Test Lab environment. Significantly increase the level of test automation for regression and smoke testing in the Lab with the objective of moving projects faster through the testing cycle. 

  • Establish and advocate adoption of Test Automation process and standardiztions across the Lab for all incoming projects.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and technical leads on environments and testing priorities
  • Hands-on leadership ensuring successful design, development and maintenance of automation framework for effective and efficient test execution in hybrid environment that includes legacy (client server), 3rd party COTS applications, integration services and cutting-edge technologies (digital, web services, mobile, cloud).
  • Ensure Lab setup SLAs are met leveraging a manual/automated testing strategy for smoke and regression testing.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in the area of test automation methodologies, best practices and software application testing tools.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the teams to create and execute automated testing plans appropriate to function, product, enhancements, etc. being tested.
  • Automation Responsibilities:
    1. Automation development and standards for the Lab
    2. Test and defect management processes and tooling.
    3. Regression test automation framework support to increase reusability and maintainability.
    4. Continuous testing/integration with CI/CD tools.
    5. Performance, load and stress testing.
    6. Shared Test Lab(s), Devices, Cloud, Service Virtualization.
    7. Develop and implement key performance indicators and metrics dashboard.             
  • Full understanding of the SDLC and Agile development methodology, specifically SCRUM.
  • Solid understanding of IT estimation activities.
  • Accountable for developing and articulating ROI associated with automation efforts. 

Position Requirements/Technical Skills (CCC/Vendor)


  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in area of specialty, or equivalent experience
  • 7-10+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Sr. level experience in Test Automation in large enterprise environments. 
  • Technical experience with automation and Agile tools as follows (or similar) :  Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, HP Quality Center, Jira, Confluence.   
  • Experience in automating testing for 3rd party vendor applications and custom applications
  • Experience automating smoke testing and regression testing in a complex set of environments (multiple) and with 20+ integrated applications.
  • Strong leadership skills; proven experience in a lead role to set the standards, processes and provide technical recommendations from the lab for best practices in testing.
  • Proficient with methodologies, tools, best practices and processes across various technology areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accepts accountability and manages execution of individual and team results
  • Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity with strong analytical and problem solving skills
