Computer Aid, Inc. is looking for a Senior Level IT Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery Planner with 5-7 years of experience!   Duration 24 months.  

 

This position comes to us from our NY State contract for Hourly Based Information Technology Services and is located in New York, NY.   New York City is the largest city in the United States and has something for everyone. CUNY’s Enterprise Technology Resiliency Program

 

The program’s mission is to “Build Plans and Processes needed to achieve: Operational resiliency and sustainability through Contingency Planning and Recovery Capabilities for technologies that support essential academic and business functions, and deliver IT Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) guidelines and recommendations for Best Practice University-wide.”
The Projects required to support the mission include: Identification, Setup, Testing and Implementation of a viable Business Continuity Management Tool to support IT planning, document creation and plan repository, automation of processes and procedures; Systematic roll-out of BC component plans (e.g., Disaster Recovery, Incident Management & Communications, IT Contingency, and Cybersecurity Incident Response Plans) across the University (24 schools and central IT administration), Testing, Training, Awareness Programs and Exercises.

 

Reporting to the ETR Program Director, the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planner is responsible for planning, coordination and oversight on the Projects listed in the Project description section above, over a 2-year period.

 

Daily Tasks will include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise for contingency and recovery planning, development and execution in support of CUNY’s Central Office and 24 Colleges.
  • Serve as a senior-level consultant on IT focused Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery matters concerning college’s essential functions, systems, applications and data, working closely with CUNY’s IT BC&DR Coordinators at each college.
  • Conduct or oversee major undertakings related to the college’s BC and DR planning, which requires extensive background knowledge gleaned through IT baseline development.
  • Perform highly complex professional work in the technology-related continuity of operations for cybersecurity incident response planning, IT infrastructure and application recovery disciplines.
  • Contribute to the decision process on IT contingency and technical guidelines and standards.
  • Support enterprise DR planning, testing, exercises and annual schedules.
  • Manage the implementation and daily requirements of a BCM Tool administration.
  • Support DR remote site and Data Center continuity and recovery planning.
  • Conduct training sessions and instruction, and produce communications related to Planner’s area(s) of expertise.
  • Make formal presentations and submit written reports.
  • Vendor Management - support vendor engagement and the ETR Program Team by:
    o Working with CUNY working groups and vendor to establishing a Baseline for Information Technology used across the University
    o Working with the vendor conducting Business Impact Analysis and assessing risks
    o Assisting with development of templates & models for BC Component plans
    o Reviewing the quality of work delivered and provide instruction on areas needing improvement.
  • Assist in data gathering, organizing and analyzing large amounts of complex data, concerning IT BC and DR operations and functions, needed for BC strategy planning and development.
  • Support 24 CUNY colleges in Plan development and testing with IT BC and DR Coordinators and Tech Teams.
  • Head development of IT BC and DR Metrics, Exercises and Report revisions.
  • Contribute to awareness programs and monitoring of global events relevant to IT BC & DR, and keep abreast of BC and DR trends, new technologies and related training opportunities.
  • Participate in the preparation of agendas, presentations and meeting minutes for IT BC and DR Subcommittee, IT Coordinator, and group meetings.

 

PART A:  The ONE MANDATORY REQUIREMENT:

 

Senior Level 

You must be a Senior IT Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery Planner with documented employment experience of 5-7 years (60-84 months).

 

-  You must have experience in the usage and support of a collection of development platforms, technical architectures, or business applications and products that run on those platforms, beyond that of a Programmer - The Authorized User may seek Specialists in the following areas (list is not exhaustive): • Backup and Recovery • Security.  

 

-  You must be able to work without assistance and can provide leadership for others; may have advanced education.

  

 

PART B:   Requested Desirable  Qualifications:  The numbered qualifications below are not mandatory, but candidates should meet or exceed in duration and skill set target asked for, at least 4 of numbers 1 through 7.

  1. 60 months experience working in technology focused BC and DR planning, activations and execution.

  2. 60 months experience working in an IT focused, business continuity, disaster recovery, or risk management position as either a certified MBCP, CBCP, ABCP, CRISC or CISA.
  3. 36 months experience working as a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planner or program leader in a University or College setting.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in the areas of Computer Science, Research and Analysis, and/or Management.
  5. 60 month experience working with enterprise level IT infrastructure, including: systems, telecommunications, applications, networks, Data Centers and virtual environments.
  6. 24 months experience with conducting Business Impact & Risk Analysis.
  7. 24 months experience leading or managing the implementation and daily requirements of a BCM solution or automation tool.
