    What you’ll do

    As a Security Solution Dev Manager / Architect –you will be responsible for driving forward strategic initiatives representing security solution architecture and helping champion solutions with key business and technology stakeholders. This is a highly visible opportunity to leverage your significant architecture and expertise! We need a passionate leader who can:

    • Own the security solution architecture for capabilities associated with strategic initiatives.
    • Participate in strategic discussions with key business stakeholders, and facilitate consensus regarding technical direction when required to move initiatives forward.
    • Plan and implement application security measures to protect computer systems, networks and data; work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and business units to investigate, implement, and support existing and future solutions
    • Through careful review of STAC’s technology and information systems, provide guidance and recommendations related to application security architecture and lead proof of concept projects
    • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements, research information security standards, conduct system security and vulnerability analyses, and identify integration issues
    • Develop and provide guidance during architecture design activities of new and existing applications; this includes risk and impact assessments and ensuring adherence to documented company standards, policies and regulatory responsibilities
    • Plan security systems by evaluating cloud and security technologies:
      • Develop requirements for cloud public networks, virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices
      • Familiarity with certification of authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software; adhering to industry standards
    • Act as the subject matter expert on strengths and weaknesses of the systems and recommend improvements to both software and hardware
    • Identify security architecture capabilities and design security architecture patterns to mitigate threats
    • Assess emerging technologies against security architecture to determine where they fill gaps, overlap with existing solutions or extend capabilities
    • Perform research, development, and prototyping activities either directly or in an oversight capacity to manage risk and validate technology options & approach as necessary.
    • Communicate implications of design decisions, technology costs, benefits, and implementation requirements to business and IT leadership.
    • Provide input to the development of project initiation documents including objectives, scope, approach, estimates, and deliverables, when needed.
    • Work closely with our DevOps teams in defining approaches for deployment and support for new technology solutions.
    • Seek out and capitalize on opportunities to improve productivity, time-to-market, solutions quality, and cost effectiveness.
    • Anticipate barriers to change and create opportunities to remove them.
    • Exhibit a high level of professional flexibility and volunteer innovation and new ideas.
    • Mentor dev managers, technical leads, and developers.
    • Present on key technology topics to the broader tax community.

    Position Requirements/Technical Skills (CCC/Vendor)



    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Security Architect, Engineer, or Consultant required
    • Minimum 7 years’ in system security administration, architecture, or information management
    • End to end understanding of the software development lifecycle
    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product and technical challenges
    • Design and implementation knowledge of network protocols and architecture (SSL, TCP/UDP, HTTPS, FTP/SFTP, NTP, Telnet, NFS, SSH, LDAP, etc.)
    • Familiarity with security industry standards (ISO 17799, ISO 27001/2, ISO 31000, NIST 800 series, etc.)
    • Familiarity with routing, switching configurations and management, firewalls, DHCP, WINS, DNS, and wireless services
    • Experience with internal controls, risk assessments, business process and internal IT control testing or operational auditing
    • Experience in defining and implementing Cloud security and solid understanding of best practices
    • Demonstrated ability leading programs
    • Influencing experience at senior levels within an organization
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Industry experiences in financial services, high-tech, and /or healthcare preferred
    • Bachelor's degree ( Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred)
    • CISSP, CREA, CEH, CPT, CEPT, CWAPT or other relevant security certifications and knowledge of ISO and NIST security standards preferred
    • Adept negotiation skills in high-pressure situations
    • Leadership skills to indirectly lead cross-functional teams toward common solutions
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of your time



    • Experience and/or solid understanding of the following technologies:
      • C#/.NET
      • Web API
      • SQL and NoSQL technologies such as SQL Server, MongoDB, and Redis
      • Service Bus for Windows Server/Azure Service Bus
      • Azure/AWS
      • Hadoop ecosystem
      • Tableau
    • A relevant advanced degree
    • Tax industry experience
    • Prior Big 4 experience
