    Computer Aid, Inc. is looking for an Expert Level Network Technician / Cisco with 7+ years of experience!   Duration 24 months.  Part/time 35 hrs week.

    This position comes to us from our NY State contract for Hourly Based Information Technology Services and is located in the Brooklyn, New York City Metropolitan Area.   New York City is the largest city in the United States and has something for everyone.     Position Requirements/Technical Skills (CCC/Vendor)


    Project Scope- duties of position


    Next Generation Network Project / Lightower Conversion Project


    The position will provide support for the development of two large infrastructure projects. These two projects will provide core network connectivity for over 1600 schools and are critical for NYC schools to continue to receive secure, high-speed Internet access. We require a specialized consultant to bring the necessary niche skillset for the successful development and execution of the projects.


    Daily Tasks will include but are not limited to the following:  

    • Provides in-house skills and expertise in virtualization, compute, storage, networking, and cabling in a large enterprise environment (> 10,000 users).
    • Configures switches, routers, firewalls and other network devices.
    • Provides expert-level skills for the in-house architecture and design of data centers including power and cooling design.
    • Provides in-house expertise in compliance requirements in relation to building and managing data centers.
    • Analyzes and identifies architectural gaps in WAN optical network.
    • Responsible for improvement of optical network infrastructure systems and processes including advancement of architecture and service level improvement.
    • Manages a variety of technical tasks (as part of designing the infrastructure in existing schools) while providing technical support for both current and future needs.
    • Provides highly specialized subject matter expertise to Solution Architect to help identify and translate system and business requirements into design documents and drawings.
    • Works with Solution Engineers to test technical concepts in a lab environment.
    • Produces highly technical, client-oriented design documents to illustrate solution strategy and deployment plans.
    • Surveys market landscape for current trends, directions and methods to improve and enhance existing network, server, storage and end-point infrastructure.
    • Develops, organizes and performs extensive testing scenarios for various solutions.
    • Validates equipment and assures that the specifications in the core network and school designs meet NYCDOE standards and organizational goals.
    • Serves as the in-house expert and authority in troubleshooting highly specialized, complex infrastructure and optical network technologies.
    • Collaborates with Project Managers during the deployment phase of the project to document installation, customization, and integration efforts.
    • Leads the creation of the configuration deployment procedures and trains integration and field engineers on various networking configurations.
    • Utilizes knowledge of ITIL processes and methodologies to develop project structure and documentation.
    • Provides highly specialized technical expertise, including but not limited to the following:
      o DWDM and POTN
      o Optical networking technologies
      o Cisco Nexus technologies.




    Expert Level 

    You must be an Expert Network Technician with documented employment experience of 7+ years (84+ months).


    -  You must have experience in the usage and support of a collection of development platforms, technical architectures, or business applications and products that run on those platforms, beyond that of a Programmer- The Authorized User may seek Specialists in the following areas (list is not exhaustive):  Backup and Recovery, Security.


    -  You must be able to provide leadership of large teams and/or extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field.



    PART B:   Requested Desirable  Qualifications:  The numbered qualifications below are not mandatory, but candidates should meet or exceed in duration and skill set target asked for, at least 4 of numbers 1 through 7.

    1. Valid CCIE and / or CCNP certification and provide certification #.

    2. 84+ months of experience in VMware virtualization.
    3. 84+ months of experience in Cisco Unified Compute (UCS) and EMC storage.
    4. 84+ months of experience in Cisco networking in a large enterprise environment (> 10,000 users). Network experience shall include hands on configuration of Cisco switches, Cisco routers and Cisco firewalls.
    5. 60+ months of experience leading architecture, build and design of a large (over 1500 sq. ft.) data center including power, rack elevation and cooling design.
    6. BS degree in Computer Science, Telecommunication or related field; (MS degree preferred).
    7. 18+ months of project management experience.
