    Senior IT Sourcing Consultant

    Locaiton: Wilmington, DE


    The IT Sourcing Consultant assists our clients with sourcing strategy development across multiple IT categories and manages the implementation of these sourcing strategies across the client’s enterprise. 

    In addition to having proven consultative and project management skills, the ideal candidate will have relatable experience in one or more of the following areas: strategy development, strategic sourcing, software license and services negotiations, procurement operations, or finance.


    • Leads the sourcing process (RFx, RFI, RFP, negotiations), evaluations processes, and provides procurement support to the assigned business units

    • Utilizes the appropriate support tools to drive results and deliver savings

    • Support stakeholder spend / vendor related initiatives as needed


    Contract Management:

    • Lead the contract negotiation process, negotiating: pricing, key terms, service level requirements, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and other performance metrics

    • Manage the contract review process, obtaining the appropriate approvals prior to execution

    • Maintain contracts for the assigned categories within associated contract management tool on a continuous basis



    • Develop and consistently execute category strategies across the assigned categories in support of achieving overall savings targets

    • Analyze category markets, assess risk, gathering intelligence on fundamental conditions and technical information that impacts the category. Develop sourcing strategies and category strategies based on market intelligence gathered

    • Perform total cost of ownership evaluations, perform supply-market research and conduct pricing and impact analysis

    • Work collaboratively with vendors and internal stakeholders to identify and execute continuous cost and performance improvement strategies

    • Be the central point of expertise and knowledge for commercial aspects of each category

    • Lead cross functional sourcing teams / Interact cross-functionally with all other departments at Burlington and serve as an effective and value-added service for the entire organization

    • Monitor category purchasing reports and ensure compliance to policies and procedures on a continuous basis

    • Identify and implement streamlined category purchasing processes and supporting tools


    Vendor Management:

    • Measure and manage vendor performance relative to contracted service levels and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

    • Identify and resolve strategic vendor performance issues to ensure customer satisfaction.

    • Negotiate and manage key vendor relationships and supply contracts

    • Maintain regular contact with current vendors and resolve ongoing issues as needed

    • Promote continuous improvement/cost reductions on a regular and proactive basis



    • Coach and develop team members in their performance and professional development

    • Guide and coach IT staff on sourcing best practices 

    Education and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Finance or Business, MBA a plus


    • Five to 10 years of procurement or sourcing related experience in a multi-site environment required

    • At least 5 years of contract management / contract negotiation experience required, preferably in a consulting capacity

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Firm understanding of IT sourcing best practices and emerging trends

    • A strong understanding of negotiation techniques, strategies, and possesses the skills required to execute, must direct have software and services experience

    • An in-depth knowledge of the sourcing process

    • Must have a strong command and understanding of fundamental analytical techniques, and has the ability to accurately draw conclusions and interpret data

    • Experience with managing high-value (multi-million dollar), high visibility sourcing initiatives

    • Demonstrated contract negotiation experience across a range of services and commodities

    • Experience with interpreting and drafting contractual terms

    • Experience with developing and implementing successful cost saving initiatives

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with a keen understanding of relevant cost drivers

    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in achieving or beating challenging goals

    • Demonstrated ability to manage, develop and coach others

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Flexible and responsive to change

    • Procurement systems knowledge is a plus
