    CAI is looking for a Voice and Data Network Engineer in the Kutztown, Pa. area


     











    This is a long term position, local candidates preferred.


     









    Ensure the operation of the network (LAN and WAN), including the infrastructure and associated software/applications. Works on mid-level problems surrounding the planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all hardware and software. Works within the global concepts set forth by the company. Further details as described below:


     


    ·         Reviews, plans, evaluates, troubleshoots, recommends and installs new and existing Voice and Data Network/Communications systems (including Fiber optic/Wireless backbone).


    ·         Assists in analysis of  department practices, budgetary requirements and performance standards to create new systems or revise established procedures.


    ·         Defines equipment needs.


    ·         Provides Voice and Data Network/Communications systems documentation, project tracking and management reporting.


    ·         Examines plans and specifications to determine work procedures, estimate costs, and requisition needed materials, tools, supplies and equipment.


    ·         Detects, diagnoses, reports, analyzes and resolves problems associated with Voice and Data Network/Communications systems.


    ·         Maintains fiber and cabling  throughout the plant.


    ·         Analyze availability, access (user accounts and permissions at the LAN and WAN components), and complex performance issues as found during monitoring or as reported by customers. This includes on-call availability for 24x7 operation


    ·         Monitor network components (LAN and WAN) to ensure availability and also test backup, recovery and emergency procedures.


    ·         Install and configure mid-level network components (LAN and WAN) following the global concepts. This includes high availability implementations and complex installs.


    ·         Coordinate and implement the migrations related to network and voice components (LAN and WAN), including their infrastructure and associated software/applications (version, service pack, hotfix releases, firmware, etc..


    ·         Participate in global and regional initiatives and self-checks such as security audits, change management, incident management, asset management, run and operation tasks.


    ·         Practice network (LAN and WAN) asset management, including maintenance of their component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.


    ·         Follow all service level agreements established with customers


     


    Required Skill Set:



    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or 8 years of commensurate experience in lieu of degree

    • Operational experience with Network Optimization tools

    • Superior technical understanding of LAN and internet connectivity technologies, including multiple network operating systems (IOS, HP OS, NX-OS), Hardware platforms such as Cisco Nexus, ACI (a plus), and Cisco Catalyst platform. General understanding of VMware and NSX.

    • Network Protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC)

    • Working technical experience with installing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting network components (LAN and WAN environment)

    • Experience supporting and maintaining Voice communications systems (experience with Avaya Systems a plus)

    • On-call availability for 24/7 operation


    Preferred/Additional Skills:



    • Coordinate and implement complex migrations related to network components (LAN and WAN) in a cloud environment, including knowledge of Python or similar scripting languages

    • Familiar with different WAN optimization strategies including Akamai, network prepositioning and content caching.

    • Experience with Cisco IWAN technologies

    • Certification in CISCO products, CCNA or higher preferred

    • Monitor network components to ensure availability; test backup, recovery, and emergency procedures

    • Analyze availability, access (user accounts and permissions and the LAN and WAN Components), and complex performance issues

    • Participate in global and regional initiatives and self-checks: security audits, change management, incident management, asset management, run and operation tasks
